What Does Ongoing Professional Learning Mean to Me?

To me, ongoing professional learning means continuously updating my skills and knowledge to provide the best education for my students. This involves attending workshops, collaborating with colleagues, and staying informed about new teaching methods. By doing so, I ensure I can effectively meet my students’ needs and adapt to changes in education.

Learning How to Play the Ukelele!

Learning how to play the ukulele in music class with two friends was an incredibly enjoyable experience. As a teacher, I’m always eager to learn new skills, and this musical journey has inspired me to consider teaching ukulele to my students in the future. During my second practicum, I had joined in for a few of the music classes and was able to help the flutists. The flute is a instrument I have played for many years and continue to enjoy. Sharing the joy of music could be a wonderful addition to our classroom activities.

Parent-Teacher Interview

Attending the parent-teacher interview was a valuable learning experience for me. When my associate teacher met with a parent who didn’t speak English, a phone translator facilitated the entire conversation, ensuring clear communication. This process highlighted the importance of accessible resources that are offered by the school boards to promote effective parent-teacher relationships.

Working With Resource Teachers for ELL

Collaborating with resource teachers has been valuable in developing assessments customized for English language learners (ELLs). Their expertise has guided me in altering assignments and tests to accommodate diverse language proficiencies, ensuring fair and accurate measures of student understanding. This has enhanced my ability to create inclusive assessments that promote the academic growth of all my students.
