Introduction Letter to Parents

Maintaining open communication with students and parents is essential to ensure that everyone understands the support and resources available in my classroom, as their learning and well-being are my top priorities. By keeping families informed, we can work together to address any challenges and celebrate successes. I always want to promote academic progress in ways that are customized and best suited for each student and their families. 

Timer - Aiding in Independent Work + Self-Regulation

Supporting students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) to achieve their learning goals is rewarding for both the students and the teacher. For instance, I had provided my student with a timer to manage work and break intervals in order to enhance his focus and productivity. Implementing such personalized strategies aids in the academic growth and success of the individual and in turn helps the teacher plan for future lessons effectively.

Collaborative Learning: Identifying the Sequence of a Food Chain

For this activity, I had students collaborate to identify and sequence the components of a food chain. This exercise promoted teamwork, communication, and collaboration as they worked together to understand ecological relationships. By applying Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles, I ensured that the lesson was accessible and engaging for all students, accommodating diverse learning styles and needs.

Guided Reading Conference

Participating in guided reading conferences with Yvonne at Tyndale University provided me with valuable insights into assessing each student’s reading abilities. This experience taught me how to effectively group students in my classroom based on their individual strengths and needs, allowing for more targeted instruction. The strategies I learned have been key for creating a supportive and effective learning environment.
