What Does Professional Knowledge Mean to Me?

Professional knowledge encompasses a thorough grasp of the subject matter and the implementation of diverse assessment strategies to support student learning and accurately measure comprehension. It also involves proficiency in differentiation, adapting instruction to meet varied student needs, and effective classroom management to create an optimal learning environment. Mastering these areas is essential for maximizing teaching effectiveness and encouraging student success.

Practicum #1

Chemical Reaction Activity

In an activity, each student received a card displaying either an image or the sign of a chemical reaction occurring. Then they moved around the classroom to find a peer whose card corresponded with theirs, forming pairs for the subsequent task. Afterward, we reviewed the matches as a class, and the students enjoyed reinforcing their understanding through this interactive approach.

History Unit Plan - Canada from 1800-1850 (Click the picture!)

I am proud to have developed a comprehensive unit plan for Grade 7 History, focusing on Canada from 1800 to 1850. This involved extensive research and learning new content to design engaging lessons that incorporate differentiated instruction. By deepening my own understanding and creating a plan, I was able to provide my students with the best possible educational experience.

Literacy Culminating Assignment Rubric (Click the picture!)

I was proud to develop a comprehensive rubric that clearly outlined expectations for students’ summaries of the assigned reading. This rubric provided detailed criteria, guiding students on key elements such as main idea identification, supporting details, and a concluding sentence. By offering transparent guidelines, it aimed to enhance students’ understanding of the assignment and improve their summarization skills.
